Explore Essential Do's and Don'ts to Ensure a Successful Roofing Inspection Process
Do's
Have your roof independently inspected before you sign a roofer contract.
Take note of roofers at work in your neighborhood.
Get three roofing quotations.
Ask for proof of liability insurance.
Ask to see a Clearance Certificate from the Workers Safety and Insurance Board.
If 'Certainteed' shingles are to be installed, ask to see the 'Certainteed Master Shingle Applicator' certificate.
Receive and submit the warranty documents from the shingle manufacturer.
Tell the roofer that before you pay his bill, the roof will be inspected (even if not). This might scare off one of many incompetent roofers currently operating.
Don'ts
Do not pay a deposit until materials arrive on site.
Never pay with cash.
Only pay in full (less 10% Holdback for 30 days) when you are satisfied with the job.
